On the first day of May in 1980, that was the day on which Iron Maiden had its first concert in London. The location was Music Machine (now known as the Camden Palace or KOKO), a place used by punk bands who tried to reach a new and bigger audience. The event was in front of 500-600 people, and since then, the popularity of the band has reached much bigger crowds. As Iron Maiden comes to London to do a concert in 2025, the venue is London Stadium, the homefield for the popular Premier League team West Ham United.
Iron Maiden’s biggest concert in London was held at Twickenham Stadium on July 5, 2008, as part of their Somewhere Back in Time World Tour. This venue is primarily used for rugby, but a couple of times per year it turns into a concert venue. We have earlier written about Lady Gaga, U2, and Rihanna concerts at the same venue, so it is only used for the biggest and the most popular concerts. At the Iron Maiden concert at the Twickenham Stadium in 2008, a total of 82,000 people were in the audience. As the band returns in 2025, London Stadium will be used instead, and this stadium has capacity for 80,000 people.
It might not be a coincidence that Iron Maiden comes to London Stadium, because during their tour in 2022, the band played at this venue, and it was a fantastic experience.
