Would you like to know more about Rome in the 19th century? Visit the British Museum for a temporary exhibition showing the works of Francis Towne.

During a visit to Rome in 1780 and 1781 Francis Towne produced a whole lot of watercolors and know you can see all these together in a temporary exhibition in the British Museum in London. The exhibition opened on January 21st and will be on display until August 14th.

On the pictures you can see ancient baths, famous attractions in Rome such as the Colosseum, the Palatine Hill, Forum and much more. There are totally 52 pictures on display and all these pictures have not been displayed together since back in 1805.

Exhibition on the oldest continuing culture

Australia British MuseumThe exhibition ‘Indigenous Australia, enduring civilisation’ will be shown at the British Museum from from April until August in 2015. This is the first major exhibition held on the history of the Indigenous Australia in the whole UK.

The exhibition will show a wide range of objects which allows the visitors to have a overall picture on the civilization and the culture of Australia. The culture of Australia continued for more than 60.000 years and it still gives home to rainforests, rivers, seas, islands and urban areas. Nowadays in Australia several indigenous groups live across the whole country and each of them has their own culture and language. The exhibitions displays a selection of the perfect examples of the practical objects which are essential for survival. Apart from the most important tools for survival there will be plenty of other objects shown at the exhibition including the magnificent works of art as well. Many of the exhibited objects have never been on display before so this will be the very first time visitors will have the chance to see them.

The exhibition ‘Indigenous Australia, enduring civilization’ will take place at the British Museum in London from 23rd April 2015 to 2nd August 2015. Tickets for the exhibition for adults cost £10 and for children it is free.

The amazing human body

The exhibition ‘Defining beauty, the body in ancient Greek art’ will be shown from the middle of March to the beginning of July this year at the British Museum.

The exhibition shows a wide range of various sculptures of the most amazing master pieces from the prehistorical time. The exhibition focuses on the beauty of the human body through countless sculptures and at the exhibition visitors will have the chance to discover the human body and art like never before. In the Greek art human body and its beauty was always important. The ancient Greek artists experimented to represent the human body in several ways and these remarkable works inspired other artists of the upcoming years and centuries. At the exhibition visitors can have a closer look on the most beautiful pieces from the age of Alexander the Great.

The exhibition ‘Defining beauty, the body in ancient Greek art’ will take place at the British Museum in London. The exhibition will be open from 28th March to 5th July in 2015. The museum is open from Monday to Thursday from 10.00 to 17.30, on Friday it is open from 10.00 to 20.30 and on Saturday and Sunday the museum is open from 9.00 to 17.30. The entrance fee for the exhibition for adults costs £16. 50.

Ming: 50 years that changed China – British Museum exhibition

Ming in British MuseumThis exhibition will take place at the British Museum in central London. The museum will exhibit and explore one of the most influential dynasties of China.

The exhibition will let the visitors discover the golden age in China’s history. The display will show several exhibits from the time of the Ming dynasty. The Ming dynasty also known as the Empire of the Great Ming which was one of the ruling dynasties of China. The dynasty was ruling for 276 years from 1368 to 1644. In this period of time China was a really powerful country which established Beijing as the capital of the country.

During this time of China the worldwide known Forbidden City was built by the Ming dynasty. During the Ming dynasty China was a global superpower and had wide connections with the outside world. At that time Chinese artists absorbed several influences all over the world and created multiple beautiful paintings and objects. The exhibition will show many of these beautiful art works such as exquisite porcelain, gold, jewellery, furnitures, paintings, sculptures and textiles. The exhibition is in partnership with museums all across in China and many of the objects have never been seen before outside China. The exhibition will be open from 18th September 2014 until 5th January 2015. The entrance fee for adults is £16.50.

Ancient lives new discoveries – British Museum exhibition

Anciet LivesThis exhibition will take place at the British Museum. The exhibition will let the visitors discover the ancient mummies from a unique and unusual way they have never seen before.

At the exhibition visitors will be introduced to eight persons from ancient Egypt and Sudan. Their bodies have been preserved naturally or prepared embalming. With the latest technology the exhibition will unlock several unanswered questions and hidden secrets. The exhibition with the modern technology will let you have a look into their lives, it will help to build up a picture of these people’ lives in the Nile Valley and the period they lived in. At the exhibition there will be shown eight people from different life conditions. It shows a priest daughter, a temple singer, a middle aged man, a young child, a temple doorkeeper and a woman with a Christian tattoo. Visitors can find out how they lived and what happened to them after they died. The bodies are approximately 4000 years old. Using this new and interactive technology visitors can find out more of the life of each mummies, of their health, condition and how they were embalmed. Experience the secret of the mummies and find out more about their life and have an insight look in that period of time. The exhibition will take place in London at the British Museum. It will be on display from 22nd May until 30th November 2014.
