Ancient lives new discoveries – British Museum exhibition

Anciet LivesThis exhibition will take place at the British Museum. The exhibition will let the visitors discover the ancient mummies from a unique and unusual way they have never seen before.

At the exhibition visitors will be introduced to eight persons from ancient Egypt and Sudan. Their bodies have been preserved naturally or prepared embalming. With the latest technology the exhibition will unlock several unanswered questions and hidden secrets. The exhibition with the modern technology will let you have a look into their lives, it will help to build up a picture of these people’ lives in the Nile Valley and the period they lived in. At the exhibition there will be shown eight people from different life conditions. It shows a priest daughter, a temple singer, a middle aged man, a young child, a temple doorkeeper and a woman with a Christian tattoo. Visitors can find out how they lived and what happened to them after they died. The bodies are approximately 4000 years old. Using this new and interactive technology visitors can find out more of the life of each mummies, of their health, condition and how they were embalmed. Experience the secret of the mummies and find out more about their life and have an insight look in that period of time. The exhibition will take place in London at the British Museum. It will be on display from 22nd May until 30th November 2014.

Rembrandt: The Late Works at The National Gallery

This exhibition will take place at The National Gallery in London near to the Trafalgar Square. The museum will focus on Rembrandt late art work such as his paintings, drawings and prints as well.

Rembrandt was a dutch painter and he was born in 1606 and he died in 1669 in the Netherlands. He is one of the most outstanding painters of the 17th century. This exhibition was organized in collaboration with the Amsterdam Rijksmuseum and the collection has 40 paintings, 20 drawings and 30 prints from his late life work. It is a really unique opportunity to have a look in to his late life and to see the passion and innovation in Rembrandt’s late art work. Between the 1650s and 1669 he tried new techniques, new printing methods and tried to paint traditional subjects in a new exciting way. The pictures on display are the real proof that Rembrandt lived up to his great reputation until the last day of his life.

The exhibition will be shown from 15th October 2014 until 18th January 2015 in the National Gallery in central London. The entrance fee for the exhibition is for free.

HippopoThames on River Thames in London

As part of the Totally Thames, a month (September), set aside to celebrate the River Thames in London one of the most interesting and coolest attractions is the HippopoThames, a new fantastic creation from Florentijn Hofman, the guy behind the giant rubber duck.

As of today the giant Hippo can be seen on the River Thames in London, and you will for sure not want to miss out on this fantastic sculpture and event. If you want to know more about the HippopoThames, take a look at the video beneath with more information.

The Hippo can be seen for the first time at the river Thames today at 5.30pm by Riverside Gardens, Vauxhall.

Celebrate the River Thames in London in September

The River Thames is incredibly important to the citizens and the life in London. That is why September will be a month dedicated at celebrating the river in many different ways. Starting on September 1st and lasting until September 30th there will be more than 100 events arranged in the city of London.

During this period there will be a wide specter of programs arrange. There will be cultural programs such as Archaeological walks, special exhibitions, theatre productions and there will be more action filled events such as the great river race and other races, and then comes one of our favorites, the Florentin Hofman commission. What is that all about? From September 2nd until September 30th Florentijn Hofman will create an up scale model that will be placed on the River Thames. What will be on display is secret, so none knows by now, but earlier he created for example a giant duck that was on display in cities worldwide on its tour all around the world. The place for this amazing display will be near the tube station Vauxhall and the nearest pier is St Georges Pier.

Premier League kick-off this weekend

Premier League kick offIt is only two days to go, and then it is time for the kick-off for the 2014/2015 Premier League season. This will be one crazy season with tons of highlights, and already in the first round we can be prepared for two London derby’s.

The first match in the Premier League will be played between Manchester United and Swansea on August 16th. Then some hours later lots of teams with play their first match in the season and we get to London derby’s already the first weekend. So, if you are looking for matches with tensity and fun and you are in London, make sure to check out the match between West Ham and Tottenham, or if you are more of an Arsenal fan, enjoy Arsenal vs Crystal Palace. Another profiled London team is Chelsea, but they will only start their season on Monday as they will play against the newcomer to Premier League, Burnley.

Premier League always gives a boost to tourism, so make sure to come to London and check out all the beautiful and interesting attractions, of course combining it with a magnificent football match.
