Laurence Stephen Lowry lived between 1887 and 1976. He mostly spent his lifetime in Pendlebury, he worked and lived here for 40 years. His several paintings and drawings show this city. Lowry was one of the most outstanding painters of 20th century. One of his favorite topics were the North West England industrial life. He painted lots of people, and because of this, these men look like matchstick figures, but he developed perfectly the figures, talent is just radiate from his works. The today very famous works, the “marionettes” have just appeared after his death. His paintings are often dark and grey, like the English industrial life in the 20th century. His contemporaries and the critics sometimes didn’t appreciate his works, but the public today adores Lowry’s style.

Vermeer and Music exhibition in National Gallery

If you are interested in dutch art and music then the exhibition named Vermeer and Music in the National Gallery of London will be of interest to you.

This exhibition has been on display since June 26th and will be on display until September 8th. In can be seen in the Sainsbury Wing, but notice that this temporary exhibition has an entrance fee and it is not free as the general objects on display in the gallery are.

The most exceptional with this exhibition is the fact that the paintings “A Young Woman standing at a Virginal” and “A Young Woman seated at a Virginal” are exhibited together with Vermeer’s “Guitar Player.” If you want to see this combination together with lots of other art and instruments on display, you better visit this exhibition while it is still available in London at the National Gallery.

Royal treasures in Victoria and Albert museum

London is always sparkling and always famous about its good-working monarchy. Not just today’s people are interested in the Royal Family, because in old times people always watched the life of Henry VIII and Elisabeth I. We are sure about that we can declare, today’s people are curious too to the historical royal family’s life, history and treasures. Those, who are really interested in these things, have to go to London, to the Victoria and Albert Museum between 9 March 2013 and 14 July 2013, because there is a fantastic exhibition from the Royal Family’s treasures.

150 royal paintings, jewelries and other treasures are waiting for the visitors. The museum celebrates the 500th anniversary of the Anglo-Russian exchange. Because of that, it isn’t a surprise, the most expensive exhibited object is the English and French silver loaned by the Moscow Kremlin Museum. This silver was presented by the British Royal Family to the Russian Tsar. The exhibition shows a perfect picture about the life of the Royal family, the kings, queens and courtiers between 1509 and 1685.

Pompeii and Herculaneum exhibition in British Museum

History charms interested people with amazing and interesting information, but sometimes it could be an unthinkable catastrophe. Like the two ports Pompeii and Herculaneum which destroyed in AD 79 by a volcano.

As we know, the Vesuvius volcano near to Naples erupted with an enormous explosion in AD 79. Nobody expected for that, because people thought that the Vesuvius is a dead volcano. On this terrible day of the late August it was clear they wronged. Pompeii was destroyed by little stone pieces, several meters ash and huge rocks from the volcano; the end of Herculaneum was the lava. People tried to hide in cellars, which was the worst decision, because the rocks spilled their own houses them. The citizens of Herculaneum were a little but luckier, because most people ran away after the first few inches hash. The others were destroyed by this natural disaster.

This awful tragedy is almost unbelievable for today people. The archaeological works started in the 18th century, and now we know there are several perfectly conserved bodies, houses, tools and other interesting ancient things, which finally could be seen outside Italy. The British Museum in London will open an exhibition between 28 March 2013 and 29 September 2013 about the residues of Pompeii and Herculaneum. The interesting fact of the exhibition that visitors could feel like they are in the cities, walk through the bustling streets, see the perfectly conserved family houses, even more they can see an unlucky family’s conserved bodies, who tried to hide in their cellar. Exciting, interesting and unforgettable! Like history!

Manet exhibition in Royal Academy of Arts

Maybe the name Manet is not familiar to everyone, but those who love beautiful paintings have for sure heard about the masterpieces of this talented painter.

Édouard Manet was born in 1832 in Paris. He was well known as a painter and a graphic too. He was a great figure of the age of the border of realism and impressionism. His two works, The Luncheon on the Grass and the Olympia impressed the later artists who invented the impressionism. Especially he painted still life, portraits and nude pictures. His last big creation, A Bar at the Folies-Bergère, which was made in 1882, was a huge success and it deserved the Légion d’honneur. Manet in his last years painted flower still life. His health got worse and finally he died in 1883 in Paris.

Between 26 January 2013 and April 14 2013 in the capital of England, London, in the Royal Academy of Arts opens a wonderful portrait exhibition about Édouard Manet’s most famous arts.
