Between November 8th in 2018 and February 24th in 2019, visitors are invited to learn more about King Ashurbanipal of Assyria in the British Museum.
King Ashurbanipal described himself as the King of the World, and at this exhibition, he is portrayed as not only a king, but also a warrior, a scholar, an empire builder, a kingslayer, a lion hunter, and a librarian. Doesn’t that sound like a guy worthy of some attention?
He was the king of Assyria between year 669–631 BC, and he reigned from the city of Nineveh (today in Iraq). We know little about the death of the great king, but not long after his death, the city of Nineveh was destroyed, and the Assyrian Empire came to an end.
Since the 1840s, we have learned more and more about King Ashurbanipal. That is the knowledge that will be given on to the visitors of this temporary exhibition in the British Museum between November 8th (2018) and February 24th (2019).

Christmas market tourism is booming, and there are millions of people traveling late November and throughout December every year to visit such markets all across Europe. Some of the most popular cities to visit in this period are Prague, Strasbourg, Krakow, Copenhagen, Budapest, Vienna, Berlin, Hamburg, and lots of others. But, one should not forget about London as you plan your Christmas market trip in 2018.
London is a giant city, so it cannot compete with the Christmas feeling in for example Vienna. But, there are some amazing Christmas markets and areas that you definitely should visit as you come to London in the Christmas market period.

The most famous of all the Christmas markets in London is located in Hyde Park. This is called Winter Wonderland, and it truly is a wonderland in this period. Here you can find lots of programs for kids and adults, and brand new in 2018 are programs like Peter Pan on Ice, Teletubbies Christmas Show, Ice Sculpting Workshops, The Enchanted Forest in The Magical Ice Kingdom and also something called The Comedy Club. These are only the newcomers in the area. Following the success of earlier years you can enjoy the fantastic ice rink in the area, a circus, a giant Ferris Wheel and, of course, shopping possibilities for those hungry, thirsty or looking for a nice souvenir.

Christmas market at Southbank Centre
There is a more traditional Christmas market located at Southbank Centre. This is a place where you can buy souvenirs, eat, and drink, and it is much easier to visit than the Winter Wonderland. Why? It has no entrance fee. The Winter Wonderland is an expensive experience as all the activities you do there cost money. So, if you would rather just walk around at a traditional market and spend money when you actually buy something, then the Southbank Centre Christmas market in London might be what you are looking for.

Looking for a place to watch the FIFA World Cup 2018 in London? Here are some suggestions!
At the moment, I do not know of any typical public screening of the FIFA World Cup in London. It would have been tremendous with a giant screen at the Trafalgar square, but that is not going to happen. The main reason is probably the fear of terrorist attacks. In cities such as Brussels and Paris, they have restricted and/or banned all sorts of public screenings. In the recent years, we have seen that any big outdoor event that draws a crowd, also brings forth the bad guys. For that reason, we have also seen that Christmas markets have turned into heavily guarded events, and so also with other outdoor concerts and events.
If you want to watch the FIFA World Cup in London, our suggestion is therefore that you should visit a pub instead.
London is packed with pubs and sports pubs, so you do not really need any list. You can simply walk around, and you will find bars, pubs, and restaurants showing the World Cup everywhere. This might be true about all matches, but when England will play against Tunisia on June 18th, it will be especially true. The people of England love football, and now they have great expectations for their team. They have had that before as well (and ended up very disappointed), but hopefully, they will perform better this time.
If you look for a good sports bar in the central parts of London (Oxford street area), here are some suggestions:
The French sculptor Auguste Rodin visited London in 1881, and as he saw sculptures from Greece in the British Museum, he was greatly inspired. If you return to the museum today, you can see the result!
The exhibition in itself is a proof of the importance of art museums. If it hadn’t been for the British Museum in 1881, Auguste Rodin wouldn’t have seen the beautiful Greek sculptures in the museum, and his career might have moved in a different path. But, luckily the British Museum was alive back then, and it still is today.
A lot of the sculptures that Rodin saw in the museum back then was in poor shape and lacked heads and other parts. This led Rodin to make sculptures in the same way, without heads. Now, a long time after his death, you can see a large collection of the works of Rodin at this temporary exhibition in the British Museum. And to make it even more interesting, the exhibition will feature Rodin’s work next to some of the original sculptures from Greece that inspired Rodin back in 1881.

There will be some fantastic days in London in the Victoria Park in May 2018. Lots of artists will come to take part in the All Points East festival, and one of the highlights will be the Bjork concerts.
We do not know exactly when Bjork will perform during the All Points East festival, but sometime between May 25th and 27th, she will for sure. It is possible to buy tickets for single days, or for the entire event at Viagogo if you would like to be there at the event. You can check the homepage of the All Points East festival right here.
Since we do not know when the actual Bjork concert will be during the festival will be yet, it is hard to say anything. But, we do know that Bjork is an amazing artist with a voice that you can recognize easily on the radio whenever you hear it. She is not only an artist, she is also a pioneer. Last year she became the first famous artist to give away cryptocurrency to those purchasing her album. Everyone buying a piece of her newest album got 100 Audiocoins together with the album. Back then the value of 100 Audiocoins were about 0,19 USD. Today the value is around 0,6 Dollar, meaning that her gift is worth three times more today than when the album was originally released. Are you hodling those Audiocoins? What is hodling? A few years ago some guy wrote hodl instead of hold (when he spoke of the importance of holding your cryptocurrency as the value will increase with time), and since then, hodl has turned into a commonly used expression in the crypto-society. The Audiocoin is still a small cryptocurrency compared to the hundred biggest currencies, but maybe it will increase in size and power in the coming years. If more artists decide to do as Bjork, it for sure will!
Are you going to the All Points East festival?
It doesn’t sound like the coolest event to us. Bjork is cool, but there are so many other great places to go and visit in London, so we would probably listen to Bjork at a concert somewhere else in the world, and spend our money elsewhere in London!
